A hike to Hällberget

Image
Today we went for a hike to the Toppstugan Hällberget. This was our second attempt to hike to this place. The first time I regularly stopped to take pictures of the mushrooms and the forest. I took really nice pictures, but because of that, it took a while for me to get back on track. At one point we decided to turn around and try it the next time. Today was the next time. The hike is 3 kilometers long and quite a climb. It's quite an intense workout and to be honest, I'm not in good shape. I had to take a lot of breaks, but I could manage it. We arrived at the spot where we turned around really fast and at that time we thought we were nearly there. Turns out we weren't nearly there. But there were many blueberries on the side of the path. If we needed an extra boost of strength, we plucked some blueberries. So after walking, lots of stepping over things and more climbing, we arrived at the Toppstugan and the view was breathtaking! The climb down afterwards was really toug...

Finding my creative voice and seeing the Northern Lights

It has been a while since I wrote here! My last post was on August 1st and in the meantime a lot has happened. Currently my parents are visiting us from the Netherlands and they’ve brought my cats Gizmo and Nels with them. So now our little family is finally complete! It's so nice to spend some time with my parents. I showed them the area where we live, went to Östersund, searched for moose and my mother kept a close eye on the Aurora app. They’ve taken a liking to the area where we live, but it's also a bit too far away from civilization to their liking. They are right about that, since it's a 1-hour drive to Östersund. But that's the price I pay for living close to nature. After living here for 3 weeks now I can say that living close to nature is very healing. It feels freeing and as if I can breathe again. And so, a spark ignited within me: my creativity. My head is filled with creative ideas, but not the creativity I thought it would be. I’ve set up my painting supp...

Ikea chaos and transitions

Hello everyone! ♡ In my last blog I told you that we were going to Ikea in Sundsvall. Tanno's parents also joined us on this trip. They arrived about a week ago to help us with unpacking and some other things around the house. It was a beautiful 3-hour long trip through the Swedish woodlands. This was also a good opportunity to test out our new camera. A few years ago, I've used rental cameras for assignments for when I did a program in audiovisual design and communication/multimedia design. But I never really knew how to use a camera with the manual function. I was mostly diving into the process of editing and adding special effects. But you have ultimate freedom and creativity if you take pictures or film everything yourself. So, at the moment I will be this typical photographing passenger princess. I also found out I really like editing the photos afterwards. My main editing program is Adobe Lightroom, which I already made much use of. I always used it on my phone, but now I...
