Ikea chaos and transitions
Hello everyone! ♡
In my last blog I told you that we were going to Ikea in Sundsvall. Tanno's parents also joined us on this trip. They arrived about a week ago to help us with unpacking and some other things around the house.
It was a beautiful 3-hour long trip through the Swedish woodlands. This was also a good opportunity to test out our new camera. A few years ago, I've used rental cameras for assignments for when I did a program in audiovisual design and communication/multimedia design. But I never really knew how to use a camera with the manual function. I was mostly diving into the process of editing and adding special effects. But you have ultimate freedom and creativity if you take pictures or film everything yourself. So, at the moment I will be this typical photographing passenger princess.

I also found out I really like editing the photos afterwards. My main editing program is Adobe Lightroom, which I already made much use of. I always used it on my phone, but now I'm editing all my pictures on my computer, which is so much easier! There are a lot of functions I didn't know of. It's fascinating to see how you can change the atmosphere of a picture. So, know I'm getting used to the new photo camera and playing with editing.
So back at our trip to Ikea to Sundsvall, the closer we got, the more cars there were on the way. I somehow forgot there are more people living on the coast than inwards. This was a nice dynamic to experience. We were quite early at Ikea, so we've had a nice breakfast. It's always so fun to discover Ikea, since they have really nice displays. We have bought a few handy things we didn't knew we needed or discovered that we needed it when unpacking our stuff. We did miss a few things such as a wardrobe, bookcase and bedside tables, plus a new desk and chair for me. But we found the rest at Mio and JYSK. The only thing that's missing is a bookcase, but we have the most important things now.
When we left Ikea, it was suddenly so busy everywhere! At the restaurant there was a huge line at the checkout and outside it was also quite chaotic. Maybe we were leaving right during rush hour. I found myself thinking: I can't wait to go home to the quietness.
At that moment I really realised that we had really come to live in Sweden and that my dream had come true. I am truly and finally home, surrounded by nature and tranquillity.
After Ikea we went to a relative of Tanno who lives in Sundsvall. The last time we saw him was in the winter in the Netherlands I believe and it was so nice to catch up with him.
On the way home, the battery of my camera sadly ran out, so I couldn't practice with the photo camera anymore. But I continued with my trusty phone and boy what a beautiful view I captured.

Almost all our stuff is unpacked now and it is truly beginning to feel like our house. The scared feeling I had before is almost gone and I feel comfortable in this warm and cosy home.
Living in Sweden means short summers. Today it's the first of august and I already found the first sign of autumn. A few mushrooms are shooting out from the earth in our garden. It will not be long before the air will get crispy and everything turns orange. I find myself at the happiest when the cosy season arrives. The transition from summer to autumn has something special as the energy turns more inwards. For me it feels like I can breathe again after a period of many social events. I can make tea and curl up into my warm, furry blanket made by my mom (I always curl up in a blanket, but in autumn it feels extra cosy).

I also can't wait for the winter season to arrive. We are already buying some winter clothes to stay warm. It will be quite the transition in comparison with the Dutch winters.
I'm looking forward to the fairytale feeling of the autumn, winter and the northern lights. Now I will wrap this blog up and I will continue daydreaming about the upcoming autumn.
Talk to you soon!
Lots of love, Eileen
