Hej everyone!
Wow it's been already 1,5 months since my last post. It wasn't my intention to take this long to write a blog again, my apologies for that! Time flies when you're busy but also enjoying life. A lot has happend in november, so I'll tell you all about it.
Autumn didn't last for a very long time since we arrived back in Sweden. The nights got frosty and we had light snowfall for a few times. But on the 1st of november the snow stayed on the ground for the first time. This immediately changed the whole world into a winter wonderland.

The days are also getting darker soon. Right now the sun rises at 9:00 and sets at 14:45. So we only have sunlight for 5 hours and 45 minutes. Sometimes I feel the need to prepare dinner, while it's only just 15:00! But I heard I'm not the only one. It takes some getting used to as it gets dark quickly, but it also has something cozy!
But the day after that the snow was already melting. It's normal in october/november that the snow can melt. I heard last year the first snowfall was already in october and never left until in may next year. So the winter was quite long and cold then.
On november the 3rd we were surprised with northern lights once again! This time it fell like a curtain over the skies. It's magical to see the differenct kind of shapes whenever we see it. We don't see the same northern lights twice! It's so beautiful to see it.
I don't think I will ever get bored from it.

A few days later the snow totally melted and the world was green again. On a friday I went on a morning walk to the community hall in our village. Every friday people eat breakfast with each other and then start working. For people working at home, it's really nice to be able to work in a collaborative space. It's nice to have an own space where you can focus, but sometimes you can miss the social side!
I've heard there was a Coffee Club on friday's, but I was too shy at first to go. Plus, I didn't want to put the people in a uncomfortable position to speak English, since my Swedish isn't very good yet. But one day I went together with a neighbor and was told not to worry. And I'm glad I did go because I got to meet a lot of nice people. I felt very welcomed in this small community. Now I try to go every friday to be able to socialize with everyone. I don't have a laptop yet, so sometimes when I have a lot of work for the internship or personal projects to do, I stay at home.

Another thing I won't get bored of, is the seeing the skies in different colors. I love it when the sun is in a position which colors the skies in a blueish, pinkish color. I think it's my most favourite colour combination! I also love it when the sky turns orange. Especially in this place, since you have a wide view and lasts a long time.

So, on saturday the 16th, Tanno and I made quite the unusual trip. After scouting cars for 4 months now on Blocket, messaging sellers to show interest in their car, being just too late every time. I finally succeeded to make an appointment at the 7th time. This car met all my requirements and more, it even came with winter tires and an already installed high beams. I almost missed out on this car too, since it already had been viewed by people. But luckily for me, they've decided to not buy the car.
I didn't knew buying a second hand car in my province would be so difficult. Most of the cars are sold in the South of Sweden, for obvious reasons. But there is also a high in demand in the North in Sweden. So everytime a new second hand car comes up with certain criteria, the car is sold almost the next day. So when I've finally had my first appointment for a car, you could imagine my excitement.
The only downturn for this car was that it was a 6,5 hour long drive. And not even to the South of Sweden, but to the very North into Lapland.

So there we went on a beautiful, but very tiring drive to Lapland. It's funny to see how the environment is different in each province of Sweden. And in normal circumstances I would say to drive 6 hours to view a car, but since I've already looked for 4 months, I was getting desperate.
But when we approached the 5 hour mark of our trip, we were getting tired. To imagine we also had to drive the same amount of time back home (but then in darkness!). Let's say we were exhausted.
But the trip ended up being worth it, since I now own my own car!
But now to get home.. On the way to Lapland we drove with one car, so we could take turns. But now on the way back, we both drive cars of course.
Luckily we both have experience with long roadtrips!
And then we had to drive 6,5 hours to get home again. This time I got dark soon, because in Lapland it gets dark even sooner than where we live. So, we were really exhausted at one point and even drove through a little snowstorm. We decided to call each other via the bluetooth of the car and help each other to stay awake. But we made it home safe and sound!
The good news is that my car drives well in long distances!

We weren't home for 12 hours yet and it started snowing again. So we awoken to a winter wonderland once again!
We also had some footprints in the garden, but I don't recognise this kind of footprint. Does anyone know what animal this could be? Or maybe it was the neighbor's cat 🫠 but it seemd bigger than that!

Now that the end of november is approaching, it's getting quite cold now. Our thermometer showed it was -12,1 at one point. But that's nothing compared to what's yet to come. We heard it could get to -30 and below. So we're in for a ride!
I think I never experienced temperatures below -10, so this is the first time for me. I definitely have to get used to the cold!

After having a few cold days, the sun broke through the clouds and it instantly felt comfortably warm again! It was still below 0, but it was really nice to stand out in the sun. It's really important to soak all the vitamin D in while we can. In a month, we already have the shortest day in the year. I don't know if the sun rises higher above the mountain by then. But we'll see in time!

So I think I told you about the latest news. At the beginning of this blog I told you I have a project going on right now which requires a lot of my time. I can't tell you much now, but I'll definitely tell you more about it later!
In the meantime I hope you enjoyed this blog and I wish you a lovely week.
Lots of love,
Eileen
